The Terms

Who You’re Dealing With
The Catalogue is operated by Ben Tilley, trading as BenBTilley (“we”, “us”), reachable at hello@benbtilley.com. Ben B. Tilley, the letter-writer, is a pen name, told about honestly on the About page; your contract, and your guarantee, are with the real hands behind it.
What You’re Buying
Catalogue items are digital goods, PDF files, priced in pounds sterling as shown on each listing. Payment and delivery are handled by our payment provider; on completing checkout you’ll receive your files immediately, or a download link by email within minutes. Where VAT applies, the provider calculates and includes it. If a delivery ever goes astray, write to us and it will be put right the same working day where humanly possible.
The Tilley Guarantee, In Writing
Every paid item in the Catalogue carries the same promise, and here it is where a promise belongs, in the terms: read or use the item, and if within 60 days you judge it hasn’t earned back its price for you, write to us, any reason at all, and your money will be refunded in full. You keep the item. No forms, no interrogation, no restocking fee on a file, which would be absurd. One email is the whole procedure.
You have this on top of your rights under UK consumer law, not instead of them. For digital downloads, the law’s standard 14-day cancellation period ends when you consent to immediate delivery at checkout; our 60-day guarantee is deliberately wider than that, because a guarantee, as Letter No. 2 has it, is the seller bleeding first. The one thing the guarantee is not for is the trade of buying, refunding, and buying again; the old man keeps a little book, and repeat swings at the same pane may be politely declined.
The Stamp Fund
Stamp Fund contributions are voluntary gifts toward the keeping of the letters. Nothing is supplied in return except the letters continuing to be free, so contributions aren’t purchases and aren’t refundable, though if you contribute in genuine error, write to us promptly and we’ll sort it like adults.
What You May Do With What You Buy
Paid items are licensed to you, the buyer, for your own use and your own business’s use: read them, print them, scribble on them, apply every word. What the licence doesn’t cover is redistribution: sharing the files, reselling them, or republishing their contents as your own. The free letters are different; those you’re actively encouraged to forward whole, that being rather the point, with the name left on.
What We Promise, and What We Honestly Can’t
The Catalogue sells marketing and sales education: principles, models, and worked examples, offered in good faith and tested at length. What nobody can sell you, and Tilley won’t pretend to, is a guarantee of business results, because your results depend on your market, your offer, and, chiefly, whether you do the work at the end of each chapter. Nothing here is legal, financial, or accounting advice; for those, hire the appropriately dull professional. If the material fails you even so, that’s precisely what the 60 days are for.
The Boring but Necessary Part
Our liability to you for anything arising from a purchase is limited to the price you paid for it, save that nothing in these terms limits liability the law doesn’t allow to be limited. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, though it is the sincere ambition of everyone involved that no dispute here ever grows larger than one email and one apology.
Changes
If these terms change, the date above changes, and the terms that apply to your purchase are the ones published on the day you bought.
